ScotlandsPeople - The official goverment source of genealogical data for Scotland - Births (1855-1905), Marriages (1855-1930), Deaths (1855-1955), OPR Births & Baptisms (1553-1854), OPR Banns & Marriages (1553-1854), Census Records (1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901), Wills & Testaments (1513-1901)
General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) - We are part of the devolved Scottish Administration. We are responsible for the registration of births, marriages, civil partnerships, deaths, divorces, and adoptions. We run the Census and we use Census and other data to publish information about population and households. We are the main source of family history records.
National Archives of Scotland (NAS) - Based in Edinburgh, the National Archives of Scotland (NAS) exists to select, preserve, and make available the national archives of Scotland; to promote the growth and maintenance of proper archive provision throughout the country; and to lead the development of archival practice in Scotland. The NAS also holds historical records created by businesses, landed estates, families, churches and other corporate bodies.
The Scottish Archive Network (SCAN) - The project aims to revolutionise access to Scotland's archives by providing a single electronic catalogue to the holdings of more than 50 Scottish archives. To preserve fragile historical records and improve their accessibility SCAN digitises records on a huge scale.
Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) - The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) is responsible for recording, interpreting and collecting information about the built environment. This information, which relates to buildings, sites, and ancient monuments of archaeological, architectural and historical interest (including maritime sites and underwater constructions) is then made freely available to the public.
GENUKI - A large collection of genealogical information pages for England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.
EDINA - The Statistical Accounts of Scotland - The 'Old' Statistical Account (1791-99), under the direction of Sir John Sinclair of Ulbster, and the 'New' Statistical Account (1834-45) offer uniquely rich and detailed parish reports for the whole of Scotland, covering a vast range of topics including agriculture, education, trades, religion and social customs.
FamilySearch - A collection of free family history, family tree and genealogy records .
FreeCEN - This project aims to provide a "free-to-view" online searchable database of the 19th century UK census returns.
The National Library Of Scotland - This is an information treasure trove of Scotland's knowledge, history and culture, with millions of books, manuscripts and maps covering every subject.
Dumfries and Galloway Family History Society (D&GFHS) - Dumfries & Galloway Family History Society was founded in 1987 to encourage the study of family history, genealogy and the local history of the South West of Scotland.

C M Houston - Family Tree Website - I found part of the McNeillie Family Tree from West Glenarm here - there was McNeillies at Meikle Kirkland at the same time.
McNeillie Thread on Genealogy Forum - Forum with a post about McNeillies from Tom Dickson - I emailed him to try and find out more about the previous residents of Meikle Kirkland, and learned alot from him about the McNeillies and Kissocks from West Glenarm.
