Welcome to The Hallidays & Meikle Kirkland .....

My name is Elaine Halliday, and I was brought up on a farm called Meikle Kirkland (Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland) with my William George Halliday parents and two sisters, and lived there for the first 25 years of my life. Since then, my parents are still farming Meikle Kirkland, my sisters have moved north to Glasgow and Cumbernauld, and I moved south to Fareham (Hampshire, England).

It was probably because of my move over to the other side of Hadrians Wall, that got me reminiscing about my past, and I began to wonder what Hallidays had came before me, and where they had come from. The Tractor IncidentOver the past couple of months I have carried out a fair bit of family research, and built up a family tree containing over 300 individuals, including 58 Hallidays. At the same time I also found out more about Meikle Kirkland, and other Halliday residences.

I originally bought the name www.meiklekirkland.com a few years ago, with the intention of making a website about the farm - which I will give information on, but just as much of the website will be about family hisotry. I eventually began this website on 7th April 2006 to pull together all my findings on my family history, various residences, and all the other information I discovered along the way. It is my intention to give all the information possible about all the documents I have discovered, such as information about births, marriages, deaths and so on, and I will try to paint a picture of the family, using that data. I will also include any maps, links, sources - basically everything I have. Aerial Photo of Meikle Kirkland

If you believe you are connected to my family tree in any way, then please feel free to contact me, as I would like to hear from you. I welcome any information, questions and suggestions. All the information I have presented on this website is correct to the best of my knowledge, however, if you find that some of my information is not accurate, then please let me know, and I will make the appropriate changes.

I hope you enjoy the website!
